Kathmandu, Oct 13: During the Dashain festival, a total of 63,242 people traveled through Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) in just two days.

The travel flights were recorded for both domestic and international services on the Phulpati (the seventh day) and the Maha Astami/Mahanawami (the eighth/ninth day) of the Dashain festival. This year, the Maha Astami and Mahanawami fell on the same date.

According to TIA Spokesperson Rinji Sherpa, on October 11, there were 17,329 domestic passengers, and on October 12, 14,436 passengers traveled on 278 domestic flights, totaling 31,765 for domestic services.

Similarly, for international flights, on October 12, there were 16,509 passengers on 107 flights (both arrival and take-offs), and on the following day, totaling 31,477.

On September 30, TIA recorded 559 flights in a single day for both domestic and international categories, with a total of 35,704 passengers. The significant flooding and landslides on September 27-28 due to incessant rains led to a high demand for flights.

TIA experienced a significant increase in the number of passengers from September 29 to October 2 following the disasters, causing overcrowding in its terminal building. TIA has now reported that the flight schedule has returned to normal. #nepal #tourism #TIA
