CIAA files case against 55 people over corruption in Pokhara Airport construction



Kathmandu, Dec 7: The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) has filed a case of corruption against 55 individuals including former Tourism and Finance Ministers at the Special Court on Sunday, after concluding that corruption took place during the construction of Pokhara Regional Airport.

The CIAA filed the case against the then Tourism and Civil Aviation Ministers, the late Posta Bahadur Bogati, Ram Kumar Shrestha, Bhim Prasad Acharya and Deepak Chandra Amatya.

The Commission has stated that more than Rs 8.36 billion was embezzled in corruption during the construction of the airport.

Also named as defendants in the chargesheet are then Finance Minister Ram Sharan Mahat, the then secretaries and the then Director General of the Civil Aviation Authority Triratna Maharjan, Ratish Chandra Lal Suman and Pradeep Adhikari, said the commission’s assistant Spokesperson Ganesh Bahadur Adhikari.
