Mutual cooperation further strengthening Indo-Nepal ties: Indian Envoy Puri

Gorkha, Sept 2, 2019:

India’s Ambassador to Nepal Manjeev Singh Puri has asserted that mutual cooperation between India and Nepal had been further consolidating the Indo-Nepal ties.

Indian envoy Puri said so while taking stock of the post-quake reconstruction works being undertaken in Gorkha, the epicenter of 7.6 magnitude Gorkha earthquake in April, 2015 in financial assistance of Indian government.

Inspecting the under construction of the damaged house of Renu Khadka at Laxmi Bazar in Gorkha Municiplaity-9 in Gorkha district on Sunday, the Indian envoy expressed his happiness over the expedited re-construction drive in Gorkha.

Puri was of the view that the cooperation and collaboration between Nepal and India had contributed to giving an impetus to the reconstruction drive.

He reaffirmed the support of the government of India to Nepal in the future and said,” India is always ready to collaborate with Nepal for the latter’s development.”

Furthermore, he pledged to give continuity to cooperation and collaboration that he believed would further strengthen the ties between the two countries.

The government of India has provided Rs 6.95 billion for rebuilding a total of 50,000 quake-damaged houses in Gorkha.

According to UNDP, Gorkha’s coordinator Ram Sapkota, altogether 26,912 quake-survivors in Gorkha has received support so far while 23,800 quake-damaged houses have been built in the district.
