Kathmandu: The ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP) has issued an 11-point code of conduct to be followed by the party leaders and cadres.  The code of conduct signed by chair duo KP Sharma Oli and Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has mentioned to use decent languages and celebrate cultural practices in a simple way, without any extravaganza.

The code of conduct reads that birth anniversary, bratabandha (sacred thread wearing ceremony), and marriage should be celebrated among family members. The party cadres should be guided by social norms and values and should not be selfish and motivated by personal benefit in social behaviors.   The code has asked the party cadres to be disciplined, well mannered and committed to party principles.

The party has produced a code of conduct where its cadres and leaders should always stand against evils and aberrations, harmful practices, discrimination, untouchability and violence against women taking place in the society and should always take efforts to run cultural awareness campaign to end such wrong doings.

The code reads that a party member would be expelled from the party immediately if he/she is found involved in VAW and discriminatory behavior, and they will also be banned to be a candidate for people’s representatives bodies.

The party has asked the party leaders and cadres to create the collective spirit or organize a picnic among all the family members or the community and develop a joint lifestyle. And intake of liquor, tobacco and anti-social activities are prohibited in such gatherings, according to the code of conduct.

Likewise, the party members should embrace the aspirations of simple living and try their best to encourage others to follow suit.
