Chautara, May 1: Tatopani border point has been operational from today in a two-way manner. Two-way import and export has started after some years of disturbance like earthquake and Covid-19 pandemic.

Head of Tatopani Customs Office, Dayanand KC informed that three truckloads of mattresses were exported from Nepal to China this morning.

After the meeting between Nepali and Chinese officials in Lhasa last month, it was agreed that the border crossing would be operated as it was before the earthquake. Earlier, the Tatopani crossing, which was in one-way operation to bring materials from China, has started to take materials from Nepal as before.

It was the only border point for Nepal-China trade. However, both Nepal and China has started trade through second border point at Rasuwagadhi-Kerung.

Madhav Sapkota, Member of the House of Representatives of Sindhupalchok 1, informed that due to the diplomatic initiative, the checkpoint has been re-opened and human traffic will also start soon.
