Kathmandu, Oct 24: On the main day of Durga Pakshya, the red tika, a symbol of auspiciousness, and jamara, a symbol of prosperity, are received from senior people.

Prasad that has been worshipped for nine days in the Dashain Ghar or puja room is received from senior people. 11:02 am is the best auspicious time as set by the Nepal Panchanga Nirnayak Samiti (Calendar Determination Committee) to receive and offer Dashain tika, jamara and blessings.

Since Bijayadashami itself is an auspicious day, people should not seek an auspicious time to receive and offer Dashain tika, said Prof. Dr Devimani Bhattarai, the Committee member and Head of the Department of Theology, Balmiki Campus.

“The auspicious time for Dashain tika is 11:02 am. The auspicious time to receive and offer Dashain tika is given because there is a scriptural saying that if one receives tika on an auspicious time, prabhu, mantra and enthusiasm are received.

The power of goddess Devi is received by receiving tika on an auspicious time. One can receive and offer tika any time after receiving tika on an auspicious time,” he said.

The auspicious time for immersing statues of Goddess Devi is at 10:37 am, according to the Committee. RSS
