Birtamod, Nov 28: Altogether 14 motorable bridges have been constructed out of total 37 to be constructed along the Jhapa-Sunsari section of Madan Bhandari Highway, Nepal.
Chief of Damak Office of Madan Bhandari Highway Project Gopal Prasad Khakurel shared that major part of construction of remaining other bridges has also completed. The length of the completed bridges ranges from 40 metres to 400 metres, Khakurel shared.
The bridges over Dale, Mugu, Khudum, Morange, Nusari, Sukhani, Buddhi Sukhani, Tangting, Bayang, Teli, Bijuwa, Bakuwa and Ratuwa rivers have been completed so far. The bridge developed over Khudumkhola is 400 metres long while the shortest ones are constructed over Dalekhola and Bakuwakhola.
Though the main structures of several bridges were completed, the project has witnessed challenges in the development of approach roads due to cumbersome processes for taking approval to fall trees. “Construction of all bridges has reached the final stage. But, budget crisis has also hampered speedy construction works,” he stated.
