KATHMANDU: In the last 24 hours, 214 people have died from coronavirus infection across the country.
The Ministry of Health and Population has made public the death toll on the basis of the bodies managed by the Nepal Army on Thursday afternoon. At the same time, the number of deaths due to coronavirus infection in Nepal has reached 4,466.
The death toll from coronavirus infections rose sharply in recent days. A total of 225 people were killed on Tuesday and 168 on Wednesday.
According to the ministry, 19,474 PCR and 771 antigen tests have confirmed corona infection in 8,960 people in the last 24 hours. So far, the number of infected has reached 4,31,191 people.
The number of active infected has reached 105,207. Of them, 96,379 are in home isolation and 8,828 are in institutional isolation. Of those in institutional isolation, 1,381 are in ICUs and 380 are in ventilators.
According to the Ministry of Health and Population, the highest number of coronavirus cases has been reported in Kathmandu (2733), Rupandehi (511), Lalitpur (481), Kailali (370), Morang (358) and Bhaktapur (348).
