Butwal, July 14: More than 30,000 tourists have traveled on the newly established Lumbini Cable Car in Lumbini province in a month.
The Lumbini Cable Car, promoted by IME Group and also contributed by local people, was put into commercial operation from Jestha 15 (May 29) and Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal officially inaugurated it on Jestha 25, 2080 BS (June 8, 2023).
According to the Lumbini Cable Car Pvt Ltd, 28,679 people have boarded the cable car during one month and including special people, artists and celebrities. Out of which 87.94 percent are Nepalese, 7.25 percent are Indians and 11 are from third countries.
The cable car has given a 25% discount on tickets to local residents and students of Ward No. 3 of Butwal and Tinau-3, 20% to armed police, and senior citizens and those with disabilities have also given a discount on tickets.
At the top station there are Kamakhya Devi and Bhagawati temple, religious places including Lord Shiva’s vehicle Nandi and enough places and structures for sightseeing.
As the top station of the 2.6 km cable car is located at an altitude of about three thousand feet above sea level, the climate there is cool in summer and warm in winter, making it an attractive destination for domestic and Indian tourists.
Chairman of Lumbini Cable Car Chandra Prasad Dhakal said that a five-star hotel with 150 rooms, a casino, a banquet hall with a capacity of 1,000 people and a swimming pool is being built at the top station at a cost of Rs 1.5 billion.
