355 ropanis of paddy in Myagdi left in ruins



Myagdi, Oct 25: Hailstones damaged crops during harvest time on 355 ropanis of land in Myagdi district. The rain and hailstones on Sunday evening destroyed paddy and millet crops in Gaushwara and Tamane of Beni municipality-2.

After a three-day assessment by a team of local representatives and agricultural technicians, it was confirmed that the rainfall and hailstones caused significant damage to crops in the area. The team shared the details of the losses on Thursday evening.

Chandra Kant Rijal, a ward member of Beni municipality-2, reported that the rain and hailstones had destroyed paddy and millet crops during harvest time.

Yam Bahadur Karki, the ward chairperson of Beni-2, stated that approximately 80% of the paddy in Gaushwara had been damaged. He mentioned plans to request compensation or relief for affected farmers.

Rijal also noted that paddy crops in various other areas, including Sanalekh, Tamane, Phaparkhet, Khabara, Bagarphant, and Torakhet, were damaged by the rainfall and hailstones.

Sanjeev Bastola, Chief of the Agriculture Knowledge Office, mentioned that they are still waiting for comprehensive data on the losses as local authorities in the district are currently collecting information. #hailstone #nepal
