Banepa: Forty-four people were injured when a passenger bus met with an accident at Dhantkharka of Chaunrideurali-5 in Kavrepalanchowk this morning.
The bus (Ba 4 Kha 7102) en route to Kathmandu from Guranse in Ramechhap district fell some 50 metres down from the road while the driver had put the bus in reverse gear.
The Area Police Office, Kattike Deurali’s Police Inspector Pawan Kumar Jha confirmed the accident. Among the injured, condition of six is said to be critical. All the injured have been sent to the Dhulikhel Hospital, police said. However, the driver is on the run since the accident.
Meanwhile, in Baitidi, the district in the Far-Western state, five people were injured in a bus accident occurred at Nwali -5 of Dogadakedar rural municipality-5 along the Mahakali Highway.
The bus (Na 5 Kha 5142) en route to Ganna from Mahendranagar was carrying 40 passengers at the time of the accident. Others remained unhurt.
The bus suddenly fell into a drain at 5:00 am today as the driver lost control of it. Driver Deepak Bohara is under the police control. —
