496 small and cottage industries registered in five months



Bhadrapur, Dec 19: A total of 496 new small and cottage industries have been registered in Jhapa district during the first five months of the current fiscal year 2082/83, up to the end of Mangsir (mid-December).

According to Janaki Bhattarai, Information Officer at the Industry Office, Jhapa, 243 firms were registered under the industrial category, while 253 were registered under the commercial category during the period. In the same timeframe, 500 industrial firms and 479 commercial firms were renewed in the district.

Bhattarai further stated that during the first five months of the fiscal year, 108 industrial-sector firms and 77 commercial-sector firms were cancelled. In addition, 12 industries were relocated, 28 industries underwent ownership changes, 18 industries changed their registered names, and 36 industries expanded their objectives.

She noted that although relatively few entrepreneurs approached the office specifically to close industries, most businesses that failed to renew their registrations had already ceased operations. Bhattarai added that the number of newly registered industries continues to exceed the number of closures, despite various challenges faced by businesses.

According to the Industry Office, Jhapa, revenue amounting to Rs 8.8 million was collected under various headings during the first five months of the current fiscal year. #nepal #industry rrs
