Kathmandu, April 28: The Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers (OPMCM) has withdrawn 622 government vehicles that were being used in violation of existing regulations.
The move follows a preliminary investigation by the Prime Minister’s Secretariat, which found that government vehicle facilities—legally reserved for gazetted first-class officers and above—were being used by lower-level employees.
As part of the probe, the government collected details of vehicles assigned across ministries, subordinate bodies, and constitutional commissions. Based on the findings, the OPMCM on April 23 directed all concerned agencies to immediately return vehicles that were not allocated as per the law.
Officials said the decision aims to reduce the financial burden on the state caused by fuel, maintenance, and misuse of vehicle facilities. #nepal
