7 Nepali Rescued from Cambodia Scam Centers, Embassy Issues Urgent Warning

Kathmandu: Nepali Embassy Bangkok, with support from the Government of Cambodia, has successfully rescued 7 Nepali nationals who were trapped in illegal online scam operations and casinos in Cambodia.

The victims had reportedly traveled under false promises of high-paying jobs but were forced into cyber fraud and other illegal activities. They were brought back to Nepal with coordination from Non-Resident Nepali Association Cambodia and safely arrived at Tribhuvan International Airport.

Authorities warn that many more Nepalis remain stranded, working in scam centers or overstaying visas. The embassy has urged affected individuals to immediately reach out for assistance.

Serious concerns have also emerged about confiscated or lost passports, with victims unable to return home. In such cases, the embassy provides a free one-way travel permit to facilitate rescue.

Recent data shows a sharp rise in Nepali travelers to Cambodia, increasing risks of exploitation through fake job offers. Officials strongly advise against traveling on visit visas for employment purposes and urge compliance with legal foreign employment procedures. #nepal
