Shekhar Golchha in CIB custody as reinsurance probe deepens

Kathmandu, April 23: Prominent industrialist and former President of FNCCI, Mr Shekhar Golchha, who has been linked to the share controversy involving Himalayan Reinsurance Limited, has been taken into custody today by the Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) of Nepal Police.

According to a notice released from CIB head office, he was called to the CIB office in Kathmandu to record his statement, but as the process was not completed, he has been kept in CIB detention. Golchha is also the founding chairman of Himalayan Reinsurance Company.

He was arrested based on the investigation report prepared by Security Board of Nepal (SEBON). The Security Board had found serious violations of share transactions while establishing the company.

In connection with the same case, businesspersons Dipak Bhatt and Sahil Agrawal are also in custody for investigation by the Department of Money Laundering.

Reports had been circulating since early morning claiming that Golchha had already been arrested by the CIB. However, he had denied those claims, stating that there was no truth to the reports. #nepal #CIB
