Kathmandu, May 18: Nepal restricted Scotland to 194 runs in a crucial ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup League 2 match at Tribhuvan University International Cricket Ground on Sunday.

After losing the toss and being asked to field first, Nepal produced an impressive bowling performance led by Lalit Rajbanshi and Sandeep Lamichhane.

Lalit claimed four key wickets, dismissing captain Richie Berrington for 12, Michael Leask for 1, Oliver Davidson for a duck, and Ollie Jones for 2 runs.

Leg-spinner Sandeep Lamichhane removed Scotland’s dangerous batters, including Brandon McMullen, who top-scored with 73 runs, along with George Munsey for 21 and Matthew Cross for 1.

Nandan Yadav, Dipendra Singh Airee and Sompal Kami picked up one wicket each. Nandan dismissed Scotland’s last batter Michael English, who scored 51 runs.

Nepal captain Rohit Paudel fielded the same playing XI that secured a dominant nine-wicket win over the United States on Saturday.

Nepal entered the match looking to maintain momentum in their campaign to retain ODI status and strengthen hopes of qualifying for the upcoming Cricket World Cup.

Earlier in the tri-series involving Nepal, Scotland and the United States, Scotland had won both of their matches, including a rain-affected two-run victory over Nepal decided under the DLS method.

Nepal currently sits seventh among eight teams in the World Cup League 2 standings, while Scotland leads the table and the United States occupies second place. #Nepal #cricket
