Kathmandu, May 27: The Government of Sri Lanka has introduced a free Tourist Visa (Electronic Travel Authorization – ETA) facility for Nepali nationals, according to an announcement issued by the Embassy of Sri Lanka in Kathmandu.
Under the new arrangement, Nepali citizens travelling to Sri Lanka for tourism purposes will be eligible to obtain a 30-day double-entry tourist visa free of charge starting from May 25, 2026.
The embassy stated that Nepal is among 40 countries included in the free ETA scheme launched by the Sri Lankan government to promote tourism.
Travellers have been advised to obtain the ETA before arriving in Sri Lanka through the official website of the Sri Lankan authorities or by contacting the Embassy of Sri Lanka in Kathmandu.
Nepal and Sri Lanka enjoy strong travel potential, largely due to the deep cultural and historical ties between the two countries, particularly their shared Buddhist heritage.
Direct and regular flights could further help promote tourism and strengthen people-to-people ties between the two countries. #Nepal #SriLanka
