Kathmandu, June 10: During the ‘urgent time’ of today’s meeting of the House of Representatives, MPs drew the government’s attention to issues such as human trafficking, violence against women, foreign employment misdeeds, and religious conversion.
Gyanu Paudel raised the issue of 453 Nepali citizens rescued from India and stated that Nepali youth are falling into the trap of human trafficking.
She informed that 453 Nepalis from 40 districts were successfully rescued from various parts of India and brought to Nepal, and that an investigation into the incident is currently underway.
“Activities as trafficking Nepali citizens to India enticing them with lucrative jobs, engaging them in the ‘networking’ business and subjecting them to physical and mental torture have been taking place,” she said.
Paudel thanked the government for successfully rescuing the victims and demanded stern action against those involved in the trafficking in humans.
Balawati Sharma expressed concern over the increasing cases of violence against women and urged the government to take effective measures to curb them.
Aaren Rai said that thousands of candidates are in confusion after the cancellation of the examination for care-giver to work in Israel. He called on the government to be sensitive to the candidates’ future and end the state of confusion.
Khusbu Oli said the act of religious conversion is objectionable and urged the government to take necessary steps to check such activities while respecting the freedom of religion as provided in the constitution and the laws. #nepal #rss
