Kathmandu, July 14: Speaker of the House of Representatives Dol Prasad Aryal has directed the government to strengthen its efforts in disaster risk reduction and enhance preparedness during the ongoing monsoon season.
Speaker Aryal issued the ruling during Tuesday’s meeting of the House of Representatives, responding to concerns raised by lawmakers over the increasing risk of monsoon-induced disasters across the country.
He instructed the government to ensure effective disaster preparedness, timely relief and rescue operations, and coordinated response mechanisms to minimise potential loss of life and property.
The Speaker also directed the government to ensure the safe and uninterrupted operation of transportation services by taking necessary measures to keep roads and highways functional during the monsoon season.
The ruling comes as continuous rainfall has triggered landslides and floods in several parts of the country, disrupting transportation and increasing the risk to communities living in disaster-prone areas. #nepal
