Kathmandu, July 28: Minister for Information and Communications, Dr Bikram Timilsina said the government has laid emphasis on policy, legal and practical reforms in a way to connect knowledge, skills, technology and capital of Non-Resident Nepalis (NRNs) with the country’s development.
Highlighting the government’s commitment to mobilize experiences and investments of Nepalis living abroad for nation-building, he clarified Nepal’s readiness for investment in areas such as information technology, artificial intelligence (AI), data centers, and digital infrastructure.
In a meeting with NRNA delegates at the Ministry of Information and Communications today, Communications Minister Dr. Timilsina shared the government’s ongoing efforts to create an investment-friendly environment in the country.
The discussion features participation of NRNA Vice President duo, Rojhina Pradhan Rai and Gyanendra Regmi, and Joint Secretary Krishna Pokharel, among others.
During the meeting, NRNA representatives shared information about preparations for the fourth ‘NRNA Global Knowledge Convention-2027’ to be held in January 2027 in Kathmandu.
NRNA stated that the convention aims to connect knowledge, skills, experiences, and innovations of Nepali Diaspora with Nepal’s development.
On the occasion, Communications Minister Dr. Timilsina also noted the government is moving ahead with the process of building modern data centers in various locations.
The environment has been enabled for flowing investments in AI, data centers, digital infrastructure, and information technology, he said, expressing government commitment to creating an even more convenient environment for investors.
Highlighting the need to utilize untapped potentials of Nepali Diaspora through policy, he urged non-resident Nepalis to bring skills, technology, and capital to Nepal to contribute to nation-building.
The government is hell bent with multi-pronged efforts to bring changes in political culture with good governance and citizen-centric service delivery, Minister Dr. Timilsina shared, asserting that the government will keep on its efforts despite disruptions in the reform journey.
“The government has prioritized results-oriented performance over procedural work”, he noted, adding the government is emphatically moving towards delivering effective services to citizens by expanding digital systems and improving policy measures.
Representatives of NRN (Non-Resident Nepalis) expressed their readiness to cooperate in implementing government initiatives related to digital transformation, e-governance, artificial intelligence, good governance, and digitalization . #nepal #rss
