Government to hold local level elections on May 13

KATHMANDU: The government has decided to hold the local level elections on May 13 in a single phase.

Today’s meeting of the Council of Ministers has decided to hold the local level elections in a single phase on coming May 13, said Spokesperson of the government and Minister for Communications and Information Technology Gyanendra Bahadur Karki.

It may be noted that the Election Commission had recommended the government to hold the election in one phase on May 18.

The EC had also advised the government not to make any significant changes in the election law to hold the election on time.

There are 753 local bodies, including Metropolitan City, Sub-Metropolitan City, Municipalities and Rural Municipalities.
