The Ministry of Health and Population has clarified that the people who have been vaccinated with Johnson and Johnson (J&J) vaccine can also get booster doses.
Issuing a statement on Wednesday, the ministry said that the booster dose could be given to those who have already been vaccinated with J&J vaccine. The ministry issued a notice in response to inquiries from the districts as to what to do to the people who have received the first dose of J&J vaccine.
According to the ministry, like other vaccinated persons, a person who is 18 years or above and has been vaccinated with J&J can get a booster dose after six months of getting the first J&J jab.
The ministry has said that they can be vaccinated with J&J vaccine if possible and if the vaccine is not available, the people can be vaccinated with Covishield, AstraZeneca, Moderna or Pfizer as a booster dose.
The government of Nepal has already started providing booster dose for people who have received Covishield, Vero Cell, AstraZeneca, Pfizer or Moderna vaccine.
However, there was confusion for people who had received J&J vaccine because J&J was a single shot vaccine.
