Kathmandu: Forty-eight bodies of those killed in the crash of the Yeti Airlines plane (ATR-72) in Pokhara last Sunday have been brought to Kathmandu.
Issuing a press release on Tuesday, the Yeti Airlines shared that 48 bodies retrieved from the crash site in the Seto River gorge of Pokhara were brought to Kathmandu today.
The mortal remains were airlifted to Kathmandu via two helicopters of the Nepal Army this afternoon. However, post-mortem would be performed on the bodies on Wednesday only.
The bodies have been kept at the moratorium of Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital in Maharajgunj.
As the task of counseling to the families and relatives of the deceased was done today, the post-mortem procedure could not be started, the TUTH sources said.
As informed, the bodies would be handed over to the families and relatives after body identification and examination.
According to the Yeti Airlines, 71 out of the 72 passengers and crew members have been confirmed dead in the air crash and search for the missing one is underway.

One more body found
One more body has been recovered from the Yeti Airlines aircraft crash site in the Seti Gorge of Pokhara. Mortal remains of a woman were found some 300 metres below the crash site, Chief of the Kaski District Police Office, DSP Ajaya KC said.
According to him, bodies of 71 deceased in the air crash that took place on last Sunday have been so far recovered. Search for one missing is still underway, KC said.
The mortal remains of a body that were found scattered on Monday was sent to the Kathmandu-based Teaching Hospital for DNA test to confirm whether the parts are of the same person, he shared.
“Some parts of hand, ribs and head were found separately. The number of bodies recovered would reach 72 if the scattered remains were proved to be of two persons. Otherwise, search operation would continue “, he added.
As informed post-mortem of 22 bodies were performed in the Pokhara-based Western Regional Hospital. Families and relatives have received 19 among them. Two of the three bodies in the hospital would be handed over on Wednesday and one after some days.
The bodies of those unidentified, foreign nationals and crew members have been sent to Kathmandu for postmortem on Tuesday.
