Bharatpur, Dec 8: Over 7.5 kattha land taken by a land shark has been returned to a survivor of unscrupulous lending after discussion.
The land shark (a resident of Bharatpur metropolis-2) agreed to return the land to the victim (a resident of ward 4 of same metropolis) on mediation.
In the complaint lodged against unscrupulous lending (loan sharking) at the District Administration Office, Nepal, both sides agreed to settle the case. As per the agreement, the victim will repay the loan with interest in accordance with the law and another side will return the land used for monetary exchange to the survivor.
According to the office employee Biswash Shrestha, the complainant had lent Rs 15 million in an exchange of his five pieces of land in 2072 BS. He further shared as per the recent understanding the victim will repay Rs 12 million within first three months and perpetrator to return six kattha 13.5 dhur land to the survivor in the first phase.
In the second phase, the victim will clear remaining Rs 3 million within six months of the agreement and the loan shark to return a kattha of land after repayment of remaining interest amount.
Both the sides are obliged to share the information about the implementation of the agreement to the local administration.
Earlier too, the office got the two kattha land returned to a victim in East Chitwan acting on a complaint.
The office had received 60 complaints related to unscrupulous lending from May 2 to 28 and 27 complaints from May 31 to June 14 this year.
Among the complaints lodged, 21 were settled on consensus through discussion. A total of 87 complaints were registered after the Probe Commission on Unscrupulous Lending solicited complaints on loan sharking.
