TU receives ten thousand applications for its 45th convocation

Kathmandu : The Tribhuvan University (TU) has already called for application form from its graduates to participate in the 45th Convocation Ceremony.

With the TU switching to online system to call for the application for Convocation since last year, the number of applicants has increased.

According to Convocation Main Celebration Committee member-secretary Pashupati Adhikari, this year a total of 10,178 have applied for being part of the Convocation Ceremony. Last year, 9,504 students had participated in the Convocation.

Before the availability of online firm, this number would be in a range of around 7,000. 

Students are required to meet certain criteria to be eligible for taking part in the Convocation. Those TU graduates acquiring the transcripts from June 15, 2018 and June 14, 2019 are eligible for attending the Convocation. 

The 45th Convocation has been slated for coming December where 6,900 guardians will be participating in the event. They have to pay Rs 300 per head.  The TU charges Rs 2,200 per student for participating in the Convocation for Bachelor’s degree, Rs 2,700 for Master’s degree and M.Phil and Rs 3,200 for Ph.D degree.

Students seeking to attend the Convocation are required to deposit additional Rs 1,500 (which is refundable) deposit for gown, scarf and cap.   

The highest number (3720) of applicants are from the Faculty of Management followed by 2,144 from the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences. Remaining others are from engineering, medical science, education faculty, agriculture and forestry science.
