Kathmandu, June 5: In Chabahil of Kathmandu, a man sprinkled petrol on himself, his wife and three daughters and set them on fire. Around 8:30 on Tuesday night, 52-year-old Chanchal Singh threw petrol on himself, his wife and three daughters and set them on fire.
According to District Police Kathmandu, Singh sprinkled petrol on his 44-year-old wife Binu Singh, daughters 25-year-old Supriya, 16-year-old Samriddhi and 8-year-old Suhani and set them on fire.
After receiving the information, the Metropolitan Police Circle Gaushala team rescued them and took them to the nearest Helping Hands Hospital Dhumbarahi. The police informed that he was taken to Kirtipur Burn Hospital for further treatment.
Drunkard Chanchal was found to have set fire to the family by sprinkling petrol on them.
Elderly daughters Supriya and Samriddhi who were seriously injured are being treated in the ICU. According to the hospital, the father, mother and younger daughter are out of danger and are being treated in the general ward at Helping Hands.
The cause of the incident is still under investigation, police said.
