I will strive to establish a system-based approach: IGP Thapa



Kathmandu, March 18: Newly appointed Nepal Police Inspector General (IGP) Deepak Thapa has been conferred with the insignia of rank in a ceremony held at the Ministry of Home Affairs on Tuesday morning.

Home Secretary Gokarna Mani Dawadi presented the insignia to IGP Thapa. The Council of Ministers had appointed Thapa as the Inspector General of Nepal Police on Monday, making him the 31st IGP of Nepal Police.

After receiving the insignia, IGP Thapa stated that he would work towards establishing a system-based policing approach rather than relying on influence. He reaffirmed his commitment to preventing and investigating crimes without any excuses or alternatives. Additionally, he emphasized strengthening the country’s internal security to ensure peace, stability, and the rule of law for citizens.

Speaking at the event, Home Secretary Dawadi highlighted the importance of enhancing Nepal Police to maintain peace, security, order, and good governance, contributing to the vision of a Prosperous Nepal and Happy Nepali. He stressed that security is not just a visible aspect but something that people should experience, and it is the responsibility of all stakeholders to ensure this.

Furthermore, he mentioned that the government remains active in fulfilling public expectations, despite negative perceptions. He pointed out the need to address security challenges, including reducing road accidents, drug abuse, and cybercrime incidents. #nepal #police
