Kathmandu, June 13: In connection with the violent protest, vandalism, and arson that took place in Tinkune, Kathmandu on Chaitra 15 (March 28), the Kathmandu District Court has ordered the remand of seven individuals, including Durga Prasai, while releasing 32 others on bail.

A bench led by Judge Dhruva Raj Karki of the Kathmandu District Court issued the order shortly after last midnight, at around 12:15 AM. The court order spans 155 pages.

Among the seven remanded are Mr Durga Prasai, the alleged commander of the pro-monarchy movement, Mr Saroj Gautam (aka Tara Rajabadi), Mr Gokarna Shahi (aka Anup Rajabadi), Mr Dandapani Regmi, Ms Sushila Baralm, Mr Keshav Basnet and Mr Kumar Tamang. They will remain in custody until the final verdict of the case.

Meanwhile, the court has released 32 other individuals arrested in connection with the incident on bail.

However, two notable political figures allegedly involved in the Tinkune incident— Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) lawmaker Mr Dhawal Shamsher Rana and RPP Senior Vice President Mr Rabindra Mishra — were not mentioned in the court order. Since neither appeared before the court, they have been labeled as fugitive defendants.

The detention review hearings concluded by 5 PM yesterday (Thursday), and the official order was made public around midnight.

This decision marks a legal blow to the royalist movement led by Durga Prasai, as he and six others remain behind bars while legal proceedings continue.

In Tinkune incident, two people died, including a journalist, and a property worth millions was vandalized, torched and protesters looted shops and malls. The protest aimed to overthrow the current system of governance and establish a hindu monarchy system of governance. However, the government was determined to bring all the culprits into justice. #nepal #durga #royalists #rajabadi
