Kathmandu, Oct 4: The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority (NDRRMA) has urged the bodies concerned to keep passengers stranded on highways in safe places and to make arrangements for food and health care to them.
The NDRRMA, through a circular sent to all the district administration offices today, urged them to provide necessary assistance to stranded passengers in coordination with the relevant local bodies, transport operators, and government and non-government organisations.
The government has suspended the movement of long-distance vehicles from all districts from today until October 6 due to heavy to very heavy rainfall occurring in various parts of the country and the potential floods, landslides, and inundation-related disasters that might result from it.
NDRRMA Under-Secretary Ram Bahadur KC said that such a request was made after receiving information stating some passengers, who had departed for their destinations before the notice imposing the halt was issued, had been stranded on the highway due to landslide. #nepal #rss
