Myagdi, Dec 1: A truck carrying cement (Ga 2 Kha 0840) from Bhairahawa to Darwang plunged approximately 60 meters below the road into the Myagdi River at Phaparkhet early this morning. The incident occurred at around 2:30 am.
According to Police Inspector Sagar Timilsina, security personnel rescued the driver, 34-year-old Govinda Bahadur Khamcha of Madanpokhara, Tansen Municipality-8, Palpa, who had fallen into the river along with the vehicle. He sustained injuries and is currently receiving treatment at the Provincial Hospital in Beni. His condition is reported to be out of danger.
The truck was transporting 340 sacks of cement, some of which fell into the river while others remain stuck on the cliff below the road.
The Phaparkhet section of the Beni–Darwang road—connecting Mangala, Malika and Dhawalagiri rural municipalities to the district headquarters, Beni Bazaar—has repeatedly faced disruption due to landslides during the monsoon season. Notably, a cement-laden truck also veered off the road at the same location in late October. #nepal #accident
