NCP bars former lawmakers, ministers from PR closed list

Kathmandu, Dec 29: The Nepali Communist Party (NCP) has decided not to include the names of leaders who have already served as lawmakers or ministers in the closed proportional representation (PR) list for the House of Representatives.

According to a consensus reached among the party’s top leadership, individuals who have previously served as members of the House of Representatives—either through the first-past-the-post or proportional representation system—or as members of the National Assembly will be excluded from the PR list. NCP Chief Secretary Ganesh Man Pun shared the decision.

As per the election schedule, political parties contesting the March 5 House of Representatives election are required to submit their closed PR lists by this afternoon.

A total of 110 seats in the House of Representatives are to be filled through the proportional representation system. #nepal #election
