Minister Ingnam calls for initiating good-governance from self

Kathmandu, Jan 16: Minister for Land Management, Cooperatives and Poverty Alleviation, Prof Dr Kumar Ingnam, asserted that the good-governance should be initiated from every individual and agencies.

Inaugurating the land administration related services at Kageshwori Manohara Municipality here today, Minister Ingnam argued that good-governance could not be ensured unless corruption, middlemen and brokerage are eliminated.

Highlighting the need to opposing the corruption, middlemen and brokerage tendencies prevailing in public agencies including offices of land revenue, the Minister viewed that everyone from leadership to bureaucracy and general citizens should play a responsible role to establish good-governance.

He noted that it is imperative to establish a transparent and accountable administrative system by alleviating misgovernance.

“We all talk about anti-misgovernance. Now, we must walk the talk and let good-governance start from us,” the Minister urged.

Recognizing corruption as the root cause for misgovernance, he acknowledged that general citizens were suffering from various problems at present due to misgovernance. He, thus, appealed everyone to take a strong step against corruption.

He also saw the need to redefine the narrative going about the Ministry of Land Management as the ‘Ministry of Venal’.

“We should collectively identify the individuals who tarnish the image of the Ministry and State mechanisms and boycott them.”

On a different note, he informed that efforts were being coordinated among federal, provincial and local government to make land administration fair, transparent and people-friendly.

On the occasion, it was shared that the newly launched service related to land revenue will be expanded to other 10 local levels including Jhapa, Morang, Pokhara and western part of the country soon.

The Minister expressed his confidence that the newly launched service will provide prompt and efficient service to service-seekers at the Office of Land Revenue thereby significantly reducing the role of middlemen and brokers.

Similarly, Upendra Karki, Mayor of Kageshwori Monahara Municipality, expressed his happiness that land revenue related service was launched yet again from his municipality after a long time.

He believed that the newly introduced service would do away with the hassle for the service-seekers to visit the office themselves. He was also hopeful that the service-seekers would receive promptly and transparently.

Present on the occasion were people’s representatives, employees of the Municipality, stakeholders and local residents. #nepal #rss
