National Assembly convenes 19th session; condolence motion passed



Kathmandu, Jan 18: The 19th session of the National Assembly (Upper House) commenced today at the old National Assembly building located within the Federal Parliament Secretariat premises in Singha Durbar.

Announcing the start of the session, National Assembly Chairperson Narayan Prasad Dahal welcomed the members present.

On the occasion, Chairperson Dahal read out the letter received from the Office of the President regarding the commencement of the session. Following this, the House observed a minute of silence in tribute to the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for democracy.

The National Assembly also passed a condolence motion on the demise of its member Baldev Bohara. Bohara, born in 2008 BS and hailing from Kanchanpur, passed away on January 14. He had served as a member of the Constituent Assembly in 2070 BS and was elected as a National Assembly member in 2080 BS.

Meanwhile, elections to fill 19 vacant National Assembly seats are scheduled for January 25. The next meeting of the National Assembly has been scheduled for January 22. #nepal #parliament
