29 dead, 190 injured in road accidents in Sarlahi



Sarlahi, Feb 1: A total of 29 people have lost their lives and 190 others have been seriously injured in road accidents in Sarlahi during the first six months of the current fiscal year.

According to Chief of the District Traffic Police Office, Police Inspector Ashok Sah, 641 road accidents involving small and large four-wheelers as well as motorcycles occurred during the period. Most of the fatalities were motorcyclists and passengers of public vehicles.

Inspector Sah said accidents mostly occur due to drivers and pedestrians violating traffic rules. During the period, traffic police collected Rs 4.8 million in revenue from actions taken against rule violators. Action was taken against drivers without a driving license, those not wearing helmets, those without travel permits, and those carrying passengers beyond the permitted capacity.

He also informed that police have been strictly monitoring the provision requiring two drivers on long-distance passenger buses. Of the 7,277 long-distance buses monitored during the period, 22 were found to have violated the rule. #nepal #accident
