Abiral Ghimire wins World Kickboxing Championship title

Kathmandu, Oct 26: Nepali youth kick boxer Abiral Ghimire has made a historic record in the field of kickboxing.

In the tournament organized by the International Sport Kickboxing Association (ISKA) today at Nagoya Congress Centre in Nagoya, Japan, he defeated French boxer Antonin Marconi to clinch the world championship title.

To prepare for the competition, boxer Ghimire received two-months of special closed-door training at Tiger Muay Thai International Club in Phuket, Thailand at his own expense. With this historic success, Ghimire has become the world champion of both ISKA and Professional Kickboxing HEAT 52 Championship.

Ghimire, popularly known as the ‘Himalayan Leopard’, is the first Nepali boxer to participate in such high-profile competition. In the final match, the main attraction of the championship, Ghimire defeated his competitor Marconi in the first round in the ring and won the title of ‘International Kickboxing’.

Boxer Ghimire, who has defeated boxers from France, Japan, South Korea, Brazil, Bolivia, the Netherlands, Thailand, among others, has successfully established Nepal’s identity across the globe. #kickboxing #AbiralGhimire
