ACC Women’s Asia Cup: Nepal lost to Pakistan by nine wickets



Kathmandu, July 22: Nepal was defeated by Pakistan in the match played on Sunday evening in Sri Lanka’s Dambulla International Cricket Stadium under the ACC Women’s Asia Cup Cricket Championship.

Pakistan defeated Nepal by nine wickets.

Earlier, Nepal had posted a target of 109 runs to Pakistan, which Pakistan met in 11.5 overs with the loss of one wicket. Nepal’s Kabita Joshi took a wicket of Pakistan.

After losing the toss and batting first, Nepal managed to score 108 runs with the loss of 6 wickets in the stipulated 20 overs. Kabita Joshi top scored with 31 runs and remained unbeaten. Likewise, Sita Rana Magar scored 26 and Puja Mahato 25 runs.

Unfortunately, Nepali batters Sita Rana Magar and Rubina Chhetry both were dismissed through run out. Both of them were playing well and attacking the Pakistani spinners. With the loss of these two wickets, Nepali team came under immense pressure.

However, Puja Mahato and Kabita Joshi showed magnificent strength and helped Nepali team to cross the 100-run mark.

For the Pakistani side, Gull Feroza (57 runs) and Muneeba Ali (46 runs) guided to easy victory.

With the winning against Nepal, Pakistan team managed to stand in 2nd position in the Group A. Pakistan won 1 game and lost 1 game. India is in fist position with 4 points after winning 2 games.

Nepali team has also gained 2 points defeating UAE. Now, Nepal will face India on Tuesday.

Nepal and Pakistan had also met in the Asia Cup in 2016. At that time, Pakistan beat Nepal by nine wickets. The Women’s Asia Cup (Asian Women’s Cricket Championships), officially known as the ACC Women’s Asia Cup is a women’s One Day International and Twenty20 International cricket tournament.
