Agricultural scientists, technicians urged to identify new crop diseases



Nepalgunj, Oct 29: Minister for Agriculture and Livestock Development, Ram Nath Adhikari, has urged agricultural scientists and technicians to focus their attention on identifying new crop diseases and problems.

During an inspection of the Nepal Agricultural Research Council, Directorate of Agricultural Research Khajura, today, Minister Adhikari directed the agricultural scientists and technicians to engage closely with farmers to increase agricultural production.

He emphasized, “Agricultural scientists and technicians are the guardians of farmers. Therefore, it is important to continuously interact with them and facilitate the connections of farmers with technology.”

Stating that he has been working to resolve issues in agricultural development, the Agriculture Minister mentioned that problems within the Nepal Agricultural Research Council (NARC) would be addressed promptly.

Minister Adhikari urged NARC employees to efficiently fulfill their duties by engaging in self-criticism, self-evaluation, and self-review.

Similarly, Director of the Directorate of Agricultural Research, Dr Samid Ahmed, shared that the research center has been expanded in Thakurbaba-3 Mirchaiya, Bardiya, and Sonbarsha of Shivaraj-3 in Kapilvastu.

Minister Adhikari also visited the Grain Legumes Research Programme in Khajura. During the visit, Programme Coordinator Dr Anil Pokhrel briefed the Minister about the grain legumes programme.

He also inspected the Nepalgunj Milk Supply Scheme in Kohalpur and inquired about the dues of dairy farmers. The Scheme Chief, Mr Dilip Chaudhary, acquainted Minister Adhikari with the scheme. #dairy #nepal #agriculture
