Kathmandu, July 21: The Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) has denied the allegations against Deputy Speaker Indira Rana. Rana was elected as the Deputy Speaker from RSP.
In recent days, she had to face criticism over her alleged involvement over the recommendations for five people for USA visa. After long discussion in media and social platform, the RSP has made public it’s official views today.
RSP said that the party has drawn attention to the allegations against the Deputy Speaker Rana.
“It can be easily assumed that an attempt is being made to sabotage the career of a well known social worker turned politician. The allegations are baseless and no monitory transactions involved while recommending for US visa,” said the statement issued by the Acting Spokesperson of RSP, Manish Jha.
Jha has said that the party will not be deterred from such false attacks, saying that activities are being done under cover with the dirty intention of tarnishing the image of the RSP. In this case, the newly formed government alliance was behind this case.
RSP has stated that after the party was informed about the letter, it was immediately inquired about and the recommended person did not appear to have gone out of the country and no facts and proof were available that there was any financial transaction.
It is written in the statement that the practice of many political party leaders is to give written or verbal recommendation not only for the interview date but also for the visa itself.
The RSP says that it was because of the clean and bright image of the deputy speaker that the RSP presented her first as an MP and later as a candidate for the deputy speaker.
Deputy Speaker Rana came into controversy after she wrote a letter to the American Embassy asking for an early appointment of the US visa interview date. She had sent a letter on the letterpad of the Deputy Speaker requesting to the date of the visa interview of 6 people, which is against the law.
A complaint has been submitted to the State Affairs Committee of the Parliament to investigate this matter.
