Pokhara, Jan 25: In the election held today in Gandaki Province under the National Assembly Election-2080 BS, the candidates of the ruling coalition have won all three seats.
Kiran Babu Shrestha and Padam Bahadur Pariya of Nepali Congress and Manrupa Sharma of CPN (Maoist Center) have won the election.
While Shrestha, who was elected in other groups, got a total of 3,808 weitage votes, CPN (UML) candidate Chakra Bahadur Parajuli got 2,477 votes. Rom Bahadur Bhandari of Rastriya Prajatantra Party got 106 votes.
On the women’s side, Maoist’s Manrupa Sharma won by getting 3,660 votes, while her nearest rival, CPN (UML)’s Samjhana Devkota got 2,553 weitage votes. Gaumaya Shrestha, the candidate of Rastriya Prajatantra Party, got 106 votes.
Pariyar of the Nepali Congress, who won from disability category, received a total of 3,774 weitage votes. Pariyar’s competitor Hemandra Sherchan of CPN (UML) got a total of 2,458 weitage votes. Three votes of the state assembly regarding disability have been invalidated.
In the election, 53 votes were assigned to the provincial assembly members and 19 votes were assigned to the head and deputy head of the local level. There was a total of 6,410 weitage votes in which 3,180 votes was assigned for Provincial assembly and 3,230 for the local level.
Voting was held from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM in the premises of Provincial Election Office at Ratnachok, Pokhara Metropolitan City-7.
Rudraprasad Neupane, the Information Officer of the State Election Office informed that 29 people, including 60 state assembly chiefs and 169 local level chiefs and deputy chiefs, participated in the voting.
The elections were held because the terms of Ganesh Prasad Timilsina, who is also the Chairman of the National Assembly, Dipa Gurung and Prakash Panth, members of the National Assembly, are coming to an end from this Province.
Timilsina was elected from others category, Gurung from women and Panth from disability/minority groups. Chairman Timilsina and Gurung were elected as National Assembly members from CPN (UML) and Panth from Nepali Congress. #Nepal
