Manang, March 22: A border outpost is to be set up at the Nepal-China border in Manang district. The BOP will be established at Phu village, Narpabhumi Rural Municipality-4 in the district for managing the border transit point, the District Administration Office, Manang said.
The BOP is being set up at an altitude of about 4,000 meters above sea level. Chief District Officer Matrika Acharya said the BOP was being set up for ease and security along the border. He said that 20 ropanis of land has been provided on long-term rent to the Armed Police Force (APF) Nepal for setting up the BOP.
Phu area is a remote area of Manang. It is expected that border security and surveillance as well as control of transnational crime will be effective after the establishment of BOP as there is no road network in the area so far,” said Chief District Officer (CDO) Acharya.
A total of 35 armed police personnel, including a police inspector, will be deployed at the BOP. CDO Acharya said that the BOP would be established at Phu as soon as possible in coordination with Narpabhumi Rural Municipality.
He expressed the belief that peace and security, disaster management and rescue of tourists taken ill due to high altitude sickness will become more effective after the establishment of the BOP.
Narpabhumi Rural Municipality borders Tibet Autonomous Region of China. It takes two days on foot from the district headquarters Chame to reach Phu village.#nepal #manag #rss
