Kathmandu, Sept 6: This year’s Ram Babu-Gyanu Social Service Award was presented to Manab Kalyan Samaj (Service Home), based in Bhaktapur.
Former Vice Chancellor of Tribhuvan University, Kedar Bhakta Mathema, conferred the award which carries a purse of Rs 200,000 on Sumitra Chaulagai (Sumi Manab), the founder of the organization, at a special ceremony held in Kathmandu today.
Based in Jhaukhel of Changunarayan municipality-2, the service home was recognized for its significant contributions to social service, according to the Ram Babu-Gyanu Social Service Award Fund.
In addition, four other social organizations received awards of Rs 100,000 each and they are an orphanage in Budhanilkantha municipality-4, Kathmandu, a senior citizens’ protection facility in Bidur municipality-7, Nuwakot, a Chepang conservation center in Ratnanagar municipality-11, Chitwan; and the Tulasi Foundation(Tualasalaya Ashram) in Lalitpur metropolitan city-25, Lalitpur.#nepal #various social #rss
