Bibek Ojha’s ‘Aithan’ bags Madan Purashkar for 2079



Kathmandu, Oct 1: The 2079 BS Madan Purashkar will be given to Bibek Ojha’s novel Aithan. The Madan Purashkar Guthi meeting held on Sunday decided to award the Madan Purashkar to Aithan.

Similarly, it has been decided to give Jagdamba Shree award to Tek Bir Mukhiya. According to Guthi, both Madan Purashkar and Jagdamba Shree purashkar prize is four lakh rupees.

Bibek’s second work Aithan has the theme of the Nepali society during the Maoist armed movement. Bibek had previously brought ‘Ailani’ novel to the market.

Madan Purashkar is given to one of the best works published in Nepali language within a year. Aithan was selected from among the best five books in the final short-list for this award. In the list of the best five books were Subin Bhattarai’s Izoria, Dwarika Nath Dhungel’s Chakravyuh Ma Jalsroat of Nepal, Pragati Rai’s Thangra and Sanjay Bista’s Matako Ghar.

The 2078 BS Madan Purashkar was awarded to Navraj Lamsal’s Agni and the Jagdamba Shree Award to Durga Prasad Shrestha.
