Biplab leader Maila Lama released on bail

KATHMANDU: Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist) leader Maila Lama, led by Netra Bikram Chanda ‘Biplab’, has been released from jail.

Lama, who was lodged in Sankhuwasabha Jail, was released on Thursday on bail of Rs 25,000.

The Sankhuwasabha district court had sought Rs 25,000 bail from him in a case of protesting against Indian investment and blasting at the Upper Tamakoshi Hydroelectricity Project.

An agreement was reached between the government and the CPN (Maoist) to release the jailed leaders and cadres.
