BLODAN launches ‘Blood for Me’ Mobile App 



Lalitpur, Jan 3: The ‘Blood for Me’ mobile app has been launched to facilitate the search for fresh blood in emergency situations. The app was launched by Bagmati Province’s Minister for Labor, Employment, and Transport, Prem Bhakta Maharjan, on the occasion of a special convention of the Blood Donors Association Nepal (BLODAN) District Branch, Lalitpur, held today.

Minister Maharjan expressed his belief that the use of technology would significantly help in making blood donation related to humanitarian services more systematic and in meeting the shortage of blood in emergency situations. He stressed the need to carry out public awareness activities to promote the great work of blood donation. “Since the essence of all our religions is humanitarian service, blood donation should be given priority and carried forward as an excellent work of humanitarian service. I would like to draw attention to the fact that all organizations should be active in an integrated manner and act according to the system of providing free blood to patients.”

He said that the provincial government is moving forward with the easy access of citizens in mind while ‘digitalizing’ government services. Minister Maharjan mentioned that the government is trying to provide good and effective services to the people by developing and expanding the technology of treatment through ‘telemedicine’ in the era of science and technology.

Baburaja Maharjan, Chairman of Nepal Red Cross Society Lalitpur Branch, stated that the organization will continuously contribute to providing easy and clean blood to patients. He informed that 300 organizations are directly linked to them and expressed the view that everyone’s cooperation is necessary to continuously encourage volunteer blood donors.

Chairman Maharjan informed that arrangements have been made to provide free blood to Patan Hospital and Bajravarahi Provincial Hospital in Lalitpur in coordination with the District Public Health Officer. Sajan Maharjan, the creator of the ‘Blood for Me’ application, mentioned that he has developed technology to create a situation where healthy blood is easily available by solving the difficulties and problems faced in searching for blood when needed.

Blood Donation Kathmandu President Tilak Bahadur Adhikari, District Branch Lalitpur Founding President Rajendra Maharjan, and Vice President Madan Shrestha discussed the importance of blood donation in the present times, the need and relevance of the participation of various organizations in blood donation.
