BP Highway blocked again, dry landslide buried two vehicles

Kavre, Oct 11: The BP Highway, a major rout for connecting Kathmandu to eastern Nepal, has been blocked again due to a dry landslide in Piple of Roshi Rural Municipality-11, Kavre.

The landslide has also obstructed alternative routes.

Following a recent monsoon rain and flooding from the Roshi River, which washed away various sections of the highway, efforts by the Department of Roads and Roshi Rural Municipality led to the re-establishment of a temporary ‘track’ on the road Thursday night, allowing limited vehicular movement.

According to Deputy Superintendent of Police Man Bahadur Ghale from the District Police Office, a passenger bus and a Tata Sumo jeep traveling from Sindhuli and Khotang towards Kathmandu were caught in the landslide. However, there have been no reported injuries. Efforts to clear the blocked road are ongoing.

Chandra Bahadur Lama from the Road Division Office stated that the landslide have been occurring intermittently, indicating that permanent reopening of the road is unlikely.
