BP Koirala Memorial Cancer Hospital expands its services

Chitwan, Sept 22: The BP Koirala Memorial Cancer Hospital, a leading facility for cancer treatment in Nepal, is expanding its services to better accommodate the growing number of patients.

Executive Director Dr Shivaji Poudel announced plans to add two new pharmacies and dental services, specifically aimed at treating patients with dental cancer. Currently, the hospital operates two pharmacies.

In addition, the hospital has recently put a CT scan machine back into operation following maintenance work, and it has also launched an interventional radiology service, according to Assistant Director Dr. Umesh Nepal.

Further enhancements include the installation of mammography equipment to assist in the early detection of breast cancer. Dr. Nepal also mentioned that preparations for bone marrow transplant services are underway.

These expansions reflect the hospital’s commitment to providing comprehensive care for cancer patients and addressing their diverse medical needs.

BP Koirala Memorial Cancer Hospital established with the following goals:

  • To prevent cancer, diagnose and treat people suffering from the disease by providing high-quality health services to enable them to lead a humane life.
  • Conducting high-level studies on cancer and preparing the necessary manpower to achieve self-reliance in this field.
  • To develop systems that are not adverse to international recognition and practices in relation to the use, accumulation, displacement of radioactive materials for the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of cancer and other protective measures including equipment operation procedures used in that work.
  • Conducting National Cancer Control Program.
