Budget announces to construct IT Park in Butwal



Butwal, May 29: The government has announced some new projects in Lumbini Province in the upcoming fiscal year’s budget while giving continuity to the old ones.

Unveiling the annual budget for fiscal year 2024/025 in the joint meeting of the federal parliament on Tuesday, Finance Minister Barshaman Pun has announced to develop the birthplace of Lord Buddha, Lumbini, as a birthing hub at the international level.

As stated, Buddhha Circuit would be developed by incorporating the areas of Rupandehi, Kapilbastu and Nawalparasi districts.

Likewise, Motipur Industrial Estate in Rupandehi and Naubasta Industrial Estate in Banke would be brought into operation.
Similarly, the Butwal-Gorusinge and Bhaluwang-Lamahi sections of the highway will be upgraded.

Minister Pun also announces to upgrade Rajha Airport in Nepalgunj and Tarigaun Airport, Dang.

In the budget, an announcement is made to construct an Information Technology (IT) Park in Butwal.

Moreover, Rs 1.6 billion has been allocated for the expansion of Sikta Irrigation Project and the budget has been allocated for Babai Irrigation Project and Bheri Babai Diversion as well. Lumbini Province would be developed as a hub for small and medium enterprises.

Likewise, Krishna Sen Ichchhuk Media Village would be built in Lumbini Province.

With the new announcements and projects in the province, the private sector in Lumbini Province has praised the budget terming it positive, expecting its implementation.

Lumbini Province Chairman of Nepal Chamber of Commerce Tanka Prasad Pokharel said the budget has taken the private sector in confidence.

Likewise, central committee member and Lumbini Province Coordinator of Federation of Nepalese Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI), Krishna Sharma, said the budget is positive but equally challenging in its implementation.
