DHARAN: The 23rd International Invitational Budhasubba Gold Cup Football Tournament is scheduled to start on April 9 at Dharan-16 Stadium. The tournament was cancelled last year due to the spread of coronavirus pandemic.
Chairman of Dharan Football Club Kishor Rai informed that eight teams including the organizing club will participate in the competition. According to Rai, the best three teams of the recently concluded Martyrs’ Memorial A Division League in Kathmandu will participate in the tournament. He informed that two clubs from India and two other best clubs from outside of Kathmandu Valley will also participate in the competition.
The winner will receive a cash prize of Rs 1 million and the runner-up will receive a cash prize of Rs 500,000 along with a trophy. The best player of the tournament will get Rs. 150,000. The organizers have estimated that it will cost Rs. 5,132,000.
The cash prizes for the winners and runners-up will be managed by Dharan Sub-metropolis. The sub-metropolis has allocated Rs. 1.8 million for that. Out of that, Rs. 1 million has been allocated for the first prize and Rs. 500,000 for the second prize. The remaining Rs. 300,000 will be provided to Dharan FC for their preparation.
He said that the organizers will form two teams with the aim of winning the title this time.
