CAAN removes ATC staff after carelessness

Kathmandu, March 26: The Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) has removed three Air Traffic Controllers (ATCs) of the Tribhuvan International Airport from their active control position.

According to CAAN, they were involved in traffic conflict incident (between Air India and Nepal Airlines on 24th March 2023).

Sources said, the ATC of the Tribhuvan International Airport office were involved for giving permission two airline’s flights to fly at the same altitude.

According to the authority, the Nepal Airlines plane was allowed to fly at 15,000 feet and the Air India plane was allowed to fly below that on Friday.

Also, a committee has been formed to investigate this matter. The ATC will remain suspended until the study report of the committee comes.
