Call for action against culprits



Kathmandu, Sept 25: The Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) has said its serious attention was drawn to the publicity carried out by the Department of Livestock Services keeping a picture of the cow, the national animal, among the meat animals.

RPP, through a press release on Tuesday, expressed regrets over the inclusion of a picture of cow, an animal revered by the Hindus and the national animal, in the publicity material targeted at the festivals including the Dashain.

It demanded that the government carry out prompt investigation into the error on a sensitive topic like the religious sentiment and stern action against the culprits.

The party has also urged the government to collect, seize and destroy the publicity material which has already been published, RPP publicity department chief, Mohan Shrestha, said.

The Department of Livestock Services under the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock Development had published the publicity material entitled ‘From the Slaughterhouse to Kitchen’ in the form of a poster prepared to raise public awareness on consuming healthy meat.

Meanwhile, leaders of the Rastriya Prajatantra Party (United) Sundar Pandey has said that the publication of the publicity material including the national animal, cow, in the list of ‘animals for meat’ as a grave crime.

He also demanded investigation into this and action against the culprits.
